What is medical Interpreter Training?
The goal of the Medical Interpreter Training is to promote access to healthcare by facilitating and enhancing the communication between patient and provider during a healthcare encounter. It will provide the students with principles, methods, and competencies. This course develops a theoretical and practical understanding of the multiple roles of the interpreter as well as the related ethical, cultural, and linguistic challenges in this evolving field. Medical Interpreters need much more than conversational fluency in a second language to meet the needs of patients with limited proficiency in English.
Certificates available:
Students who attend, complete the course and pass the final assessment receive a certificate of completion. Complete the 3rd party language fluency assessment with a passing score for a Qualified Interpreter Certificate. This is the customary entry level certification required to become a Hospital staff Interpreter.
